2023 Vehicle Fuel Economy Guide and Vehicle Fuel Efficiency Ranking Released
Date: 2024-06-06
To provide reference for the public to purchase energy-saving vehicles, the Energy Administration (EA), Ministry of Economic Affairs publishes the latest information of certified vehicles online every month, and compiles the annual "Vehicle Fuel Economy Guide". Moreover, to encourage the public to purchase electric vehicles, the "2023 Vehicle Fuel Economy Guide" also includes information of electric vehicles that have been tested and certified (please refer to the webpage titled "Electric Vehicle Energy Efficiency Labeling").
In the fuel-saving vehicle rankings in this guide (non-electric vehicles), Honda FIT A522H1502 1498c.c. A1 5D (hybrid model) manufactured by HONDA TAIWAN MOTOR CO., LTD. outperforms the rest of the passenger cars with a fuel economy of 26.9 km/liter. For commercial vehicles, TUCSON NX4H-C 1598c.c. A6 5D (hybrid model) manufactured by SANYANG MOTOR CO., LTD. leads the way with a fuel economy of 21.1 km/liter. In the category of motorcycle tested by "Fuel Economy Test Method for Motorcycles", HONDA Super Cub C125 124 c.c. M4 imported by TAO LING INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD. has the top fuel economy of 80.7 km/liter.
The EA noted that, in addition to purchasing energy-saving vehicles, good driving habits and regular maintenance of vehicles are also important for energy conservation and carbon reduction. Other practices such as reducing vehicle load, smooth acceleration and deceleration, keeping normal tire pressure, and avoiding long periods of idling are also essential to better energy conservation.
The EA underscores that the published values of fuel economy in the Guide were tested under specific conditions in the labs. When driving on real roads, the fuel economy will be affected by the climate, traffic condition, AC usage and driving habits, hence the actual number of kilometers per liter's fuel traveled on the road should be lower than the published value in the guide.
The Chinese version of the "2023 Vehicle Fuel Economy Guide" has been published on EA's website (https://www.moeaea.gov.tw/), and all are welcome to download and use it.
