The Energy Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs is Taiwan's central competent authority of energy. Operating according to its statutory scope of authority, it is responsible for the establishment of Taiwan's energy policy and related laws, the prediction planning and promotion of supply and demand of energy, the management of energy businesses, the consideration of energy rates, the research, development, and popularization of new energy and renewable energy, the promotion of energy conservation measures, etc.
In order to carry out the above-mentioned energy matters, Taiwan has already drafted five categories of laws: the Energy Administration Act, the Petroleum Administration Act, the Natural Gas Enterprise Act, the Electricity Act, and the Renewable Energy Development Act. Regulations are hereby promulgated pursuant to authorization by each of the laws, and govern the promotion of each energy matter. The English translation of each of the laws is as follows.
