With high oil-import dependency, it is necessary for Taiwan, R.O.C. to maximize energy security with oil stockpiling. According to Article 24 of the Petroleum Administration Act, oil refinery operators and importers are required to maintain an oil security stockpile of no less than sixty days of supply while the government must also maintain an oil security stockpile of no less than 30 days. The stability of domestic oil supply is secured via aperiodic government inspections combined with monthly reports from refinery operators and importers.
