Introduction
APEC Energy Ministers Meetings (EMMs) are held biennially, with the aim of providing high-level political guidance on the energy-related goals set by APEC leaders to fulfill their instructions on energy development in the APEC region. Since 1996, a total of twelve EMMs have been successfully held by a variety of member economies.
Taiwan has participated in every APEC Energy Ministerial Meetings since August 1996 to engage in the dialogues on energy policies, energy trade and investment, and energy technologies and industrial development. In particular, Taiwan has actively proposed energy initiatives for regional energy cooperation which was endorsed by APEC Ministers.
