Ever since 2011, the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Energy Administration and the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) have together successfully cohosted several conferences to discuss the latest developments in the field of energy. Topics include Solar Energy Promotion, Sustainable Development, Natural Gas Development and Low Carbon Communities.
In year 2015, with the great efforts and supports of the U.S. Department of States, we further upgraded the level of bilateral cooperation to multilateral cooperation by inviting experts and distinguished guests in related areas from Asian countries, to exchanges views on the development and trends of next generation power in Asia.
In 2016, the first energy conference was held under the Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF), which was signed in June 2015, marking an exciting step forward in Taiwan-U.S. regional energy cooperation. In 2018, Taiwan and the United States co-proposed to hold the APEC Workshop on LNG Trade Facilitation as the bilateral cooperation activity for the year. Under the GCTF, the Workshop on Good Energy Governance in the Indo-Pacific was co-organized by Taiwan, the United States, Japan and Australia in 2019 while the Conference on Green Energy was held in 2021.
